Homo Novus is an international contemporary theatre festival that takes place in Riga every second year. It has been recognised by the international community and placed among the most important and innovative theatre festivals of the region. The festival presents new talents and established artists with an interest and curiosity for the contemporary world and functions as a platform for learning, exchange, development of new artistic initiatives and partnerships. Each festival offers a diverse international programme of contemporary theatre, dance, circus, film, the series of workshops, lectures and debate. Since 1995 nine festivals have been organised and more than 100 performances from almost all European countries, as well as Georgia, Russia, Argentina, Lebanon and other parts of the world have been produced and presented in Daugavpils and Riga.
