Masterclass - Introduction to Disability Accessible Theatre

An introductory workshop to disability accessible theatre and Creatively Embedded Access for theatre students of Lavian Academy of Culture led by Irish theatre-maker Al Bellamy. Using What I (Don’t) Know About Autism (The Abbey Theatre Peacock Stage, Dublin 2021) and Yellow (Draíocht Blanchardstown and Granary Theatre Cork, 2022) as examples to dive into the ways in which rehearsals and productions can be accessible to all. Al Bellamy, with writer Jody O’Neill, has been working with Suisha Inclusive Arts to co-devise a new production, Home Sweet Home, through BEyond PARTicipation a Creative Europe funded project.

The Masterclass is invite only and delivered as a part of the Directing course at the Latvian Academy of Culture.

The workshop is held in collaboration with the Latvian Academy of Culture and the Eduards Smiļģis Theater Museum.
